The Chapman Stick is an electric fretted stringed musical instrument that is destined to take over the world. A Very Very Brief History The STICK was created during the early 1970s by Emmett Chapman. He created the instrument for use with a tapping technique he had developed. STICK instruments have been manufactured continuously since then by Emmett's company, Stick Enterprises.

Why the STICK is not some kind of guitar ? On a guitar you finger a note with one hand and pluck or strum the string with the other hand. On the STICK, the act of fingering a note plays the note so no plucking is necessary (but you can still do it for special effects). Since you do not need the other hand to pluck notes, it can finger other notes. The STICK has 10 or 12 strings (depending on the model) and by fingering with both hands you can play a full arrangement like you can on a piano (which is very difficult to do on a guitar). The strings on a STICK instrument range from below the lowest note on a bass guitar through the entire range of a normal guitar.
