Concert review: Ron Baggerman Date: Mon, Nov 15, 1999

Hello, Ron Baggerman played at Jazz-Club Bamberg, Germany, on 12. November 1999 and I feel so impressed that I want to give a short review of this concert.

In his fine introducing words for Rons CD Galaxy Gypsy, Emmett Chapman called him a romantic vagabond with a heart of a gypsy and thanked him while coming from outer regions returning down to earth and landing in our sector. I want to thank Ron for landing in Bamberg too, giving us one night full of music, which really seems to come from a new Galaxy.

His incredible performance with a well selected mixture of songs from his own CD and jazz standards from Gershwin to Zawinul, played with highest virtuosity and most emotional, charmed everyone who came in this night.

Together with Reiner Berneth who did a masterpiece on percussion this evening, Ron filled the Club with a spirit of a new musical area. His midi Grand Stick sounded very clear and great with the small Club PA, the bass side was supported by running also thru an Eden bass rig which produced a very low bottom and made the bass sound very warm.

Standing ovations and a must to give 30 minutes additional music after three hours of playing were the reaction of the enthused audience to the outstanding playing of Ron and of course this fascinating Stick instrument. I think its about time to spread such kind of music more over this sector and I hope that some more concerts from the Stick Galaxy could be realised here.

If you ever will have the chance to hear Ron playing: dont miss it.
