The Stick has ten strings, five bass and five melody strings. It is played by tapping and holding of strings with individual fingers. The energy of the metal string hitting the metal fret is enough to get the string vibrating because of the sensitive pickup. It has a human feel, it is articulate. |

The tuning of the melody string is in fourths going down (like the two top strings of a guitar, or like the tuning of a bass guitar) and the bass strings are tuned in fifths going back up, or in other words, reversed fourths; it is tuned in fifths because in the bass wider intervals are required that in the melody. Because of the overall tuning in fourths transposing ideas is very easy, you can move every musical idea (chord, melody, bass) along the strings, across the strings or diagonally. The lowest note is C# under the E of a bass guitar, the highest is D# like the highest note on most guitars. nbsp;
The Stick is stereo and has two outputs, one for the five melody strings and one for the five bass strings. So you could play one set of strings through effects without influencing the other and you could play through two amplifiers. The lowest string is in the middle and because of this you can play a bass note with one finger of your left hand, with the rest of the fingers of the same hand you can play a chord on the bass strings or on the melody strings. At the same time you can play lead on top with the fingers of your right hand. 1 had the privilège of meeting and playing for the inventor Emmett Chapman a few months ago, who is a master himself.
