GALAXY GYPSY

CD REVIEW

"The Romantic vagabond from the outer regions has landed and he's a Stickplayer with the heart of Gypsy.

Its about time he came down to earth with some real documentation of his musical art and long experience on this instrument".

"Galaxy Gypsy", trought mostly solos, offers a full spectrum of tapping technique and expression to the stick enthusiast. His passionnate melody is very Latinesque in flavor and is colored by many of tactile expressive elements that I remember passing on to him in the late 70's : strong vibratos, bends, glisses, pull-offs and uses Patch Of Shades in sections to "shade" his lead expression.

It is accompagnied on several songs by percussionnist Raymond Blahowetz whose transparent rhythmic texture compliment the Stick very nicely.

Ron adds some unison MIDI lines to his melody audio output as live orchestral enhancement - vibes, steeldrums, shakers...

All the dimensions of the known art of live Stick playing seem to be present on this album - The finger dynamics of the clean string sounds, heavy legato distorsion; MIDI doubling and those incredible left hand motor rythms.
